1960s Oregon Ducks Safety Promising Career Cut Short
CampusAttic.com sat down with Steve Hilbert, Oregon Ducks football safety 1966-1968. In 1968 six games into the season it was discovered he had actually broken his neck in the first game of the year, ending his career. Steve appeared in the film “Drive, He Said”, made on campus his senior year.
Today he and his wife run a fly fishing ranch and resort in southern Oregon – The Lonesome Duck.
